Origins

The Netherland Dwarf developed in the Netherlands in the 1930s from Poland White (England) and selected strains of wild rabbits. A breed standard was established in 1940, with a maximum weight of 1.5 kg and allows all colors are known. Netherland dwarf originally almost always the wild (Agouti) is gray, but the further development of the type produced in black, steel gray and sable color. Almost every color known since it was achieved through cross marriage. The Netherland Dwarf introduced to the UK during the 1940s and to the United States in the late 1960s and has become one of the most popular breeds in the world. Most rabbits sold in pet stores or Netherland Dwarf Netherland dwarf cross-breeds.

Appearance

The Netherland Dwarf is one of a very small range of special weight 700g-1.2kg (1 ½-2½lbs). 

The Netherland Dwarf has, compact spherical appearance. The body is short and wide with a round and short legs. Short head, large and round with a profile that is curved and small erect ears about 5cm (2in) long.

Netherland Dwarf shy and live. Tenderness and understanding needed to win their confidence and bring out the best in their personalities. They are very active and playful, loves to hike and can be quite mischievous. Despite its small size, they require a lot of space because they like to run and can jump very high. The Netherland Dwarf has a reputation for being nervous and aggressive. Originally from Poland was very lively (English) and wild rabbit, Netherland dwarf early enough 'wild' as most legacy behavior. Breeding stock is selected based on the characteristics and behavior Dwarf remained poor during the development of the breed.
